The reason for the Nurse Corps Scholarship Program (formerly known as Nursing Scholarship Program (NSP) is to give Scholarship to nursing students in return for a minimum two-year full-time service responsibility (or commitment), at a qualified medical care office with a basic deficiency of attendants.

Purpose
The Nurse Corps Scholarship Program provides scholarships for nursing students in exchange for a minimum 2-year full-time service commitment (or part-time equivalent), at an eligible healthcare facility with a critical shortage of nurses.
Eligibility
To be eligible for a scholarship, an applicant must:
- Be a U.S. citizen (born or naturalized), national, or lawful permanent resident
- Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in a professional, accredited nursing program located in the U.S.including:
- Associate degree
- Bachelor degree
- Diploma
- RN to baccalaureate BSN bridge program
- Direct entry or equivalent master’s degree program
- Begin classes no later than September 30, 2022
- Be free from any federal judgment liens
- Be free from existing service commitments
- Not be in default on a federal obligation

In exchange for at least 2 years service at a healthcare facility with a critical shortage of nurses, the scholarship covers:
- Tuition and other eligible fees
- Other reasonable costs including required books, clinical supplies, and instruments
- Monthly stipend for living expenses ($1,466 for the 2022-2023 academic year)

Can Nurse Corps SP participants defer their scholarship start date?
No, scholarship start dates cannot be deferred. The scholarship will start at the beginning of the 2022-2023 academic year.
When does the Nurse Corps SP service obligation begin?
Nursing participants have up to 9 months from the date of graduation to (1) obtain a nursing license; (2) accept an offer of employment from a Nurse Corps SP-approved facility; and (3) commence full-time (or if approved, part-time) clinical services at a CSF.
